IN YOUR SENIOR YEAR DID YOU...
1. Did you date someone from your school? No
2. Did you marry someone from your high school? No
3. Did you car pool to school? Drove myself that year.
4. What kind of car did you have? 1997 Ford F-150. I loved that truck.
5. What kind of car do you have now. 2008 Honda Civic. I love that car, but for different reasons.
6. Its Friday night...where are you now? Depends. Out with friends or at home reading/relaxing.
7. It is Friday night...where were you then? Out with friends causing chaos to the residents of Carrollton, Tx.
8. What kind of job did you have in high school? Oshman's Sporting Goods. Sold shoes and skates.
9. What kind of job do you do now? Middle School Band Director.
10. Were you a party animal? Not really. I could have a good time, but my idea of a good time wasn't getting wasted and breaking commandments.
11. Were you considered a flirt? I seriously doubt that.
12. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? Obviously (see #9) I was a band nerd. I played trombone in the full orchestra, but my life was marching band, football games, and hanging out with an oboe player, drummers, and brass players.
13. Were you a nerd? Yeah. Probably wouldn't have admitted it then. Most of my friends were in band. I enjoyed school for the most part. I took freaking BC Calculus and got a 4 on the ap test (which gave me 6 hours of A's at UT!)
14. Did you get suspended or expelled? No. Getting into that kind of trouble was never an option in my head.
15. Can you sing the fight song? Nope. But I could probably sing most of the alma mater. We sang it every week on the bus back from football games.
I could probably sing it in the right key, too.
16. Who was/were your favorite teacher(s)? Mr. Centera had a huge impact on me as a person. Mr. Clemmer had a huge impact on me as a musician and teacher. Mr. Pritchett and my spanish teacher helped me find my calling. Mr. Parks taught me how to dance.
17. Where did you sit during Lunch? Wendy's. Sat in my car most days listening to Radiohead, Matt Catingub, Stan Kenton, or Five Iron Frenzy. Most of my friends didn't have my lunch.
18. What was your school's full name? Newman Smith High School
19. When did you graduate? 2002
20. What was your school mascot? Trojans (yes, the Trojans)
21. If you could go back and do it again, would you? Yeah, it has been one of my favorite years of life so far.
22. Did you have fun at Prom? Yes! I went on a double date of sorts with my best friend. It was very comfortable and fun. No pressure to do anything or say anything. I wish every date could be like that.
23. Do you still talk to the person you went to Prom with? When I see them, which is about once or twice a year.
24. Are you planning on going to your next reunion? Absolutely. Probably for the same reasons that most people avoid theirs. I'm excited about going back and seeing all the people that probably made fun of me. My identity has changed a lot since then. Teaching middle school has forced me to be really comfortable with who I am.
25. Do you still talk to people from school? Yeah. A lot of them seem to run in the same circles still, and I'm good friends with a few of the people from those circles, so I end up seeing more than I plan to, but that's not a bad thing.
26. School Colors? Green and gold. When I started going to school there the walls were puke green and brown. Now they're Hospital white and green.
27. What celebrities came from your high school? None that I can think of. Vanilla Ice went to school down the street. Barack Obama visited my school a couple years ago. That's about it.
28. What is your fondest memory of your senior year? The friendships I made because of band. Without it I probably would have had little to no social life.

I liked this too! I can relate. I like what you said about being a middle school band director making you comfortable with who you are. And who you are is an awesome person that I am proud to call my friend!
Very cool you are.
I heard that Steve Miller went to Newman Smith. I may have that wrong...
